MBM- Career Information Session:

An information session on career options will be conducted on 27 April 2014. This session will give

information about a variety of courses and financing options available to enable entry into the Canadian job market.

Information about upgrading your academic skills to prepare yourself for the Canadian job market will be given.

It will be especially useful for newcomers to Canada. The session will be conducted by Chitra Potnis who is an

engineer by qualification and has been an educationist for many years. She is the Education Director of a career

college. The session will be interactive in nature.


There is no entry fee. You are welcome to attend with your friends and family. Please provide RSVP.

This melodious musical  is a spectacular blend of Bharatnatyam and Kathak  the twoprominent styles of

classical dancing. Planning to honor all the attending mothers in a unique way!

 

Vasantik is planned during the day which will allow attendees to celebrate Mother's Day with

Family and Friends in the evening.

Dr. Prabha Atre is one of the senior torchbearers of classical music in India today. She trained under 

Sureshbabu Mane and Hirabai Badodekar, children and disciples of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, the

preeminent modern day exponent of the Kirana Gharana. She is widely acclaimed for her grace and

excellence in performance, and her research into, and teaching of, Indian classical music. 

She has numerous publications (books and CDs) to her credit

and has been a visiting professor at a number of universities in India and overseas.  

She has established a Foundation to promote the cause of Indian classical music and performing arts. 

Dr. Atre has been honoured with many national awards, including the title `Padmabhushan' and

the Sangeet Natak Akademi award, in recognition of her creativity, artistic excellence, outstanding

achievement and distinguished service in the field of classical music. 

Dr. Chetna Banawat, a senior disciple of Dr. Atre will provide vocal accompaniment,

along with Kedar Naphade on harmonium and Vikas Naregal on tabla.

Interactive Workshop : Hindustani Classical Performance

"An Interactive Discussion and Workshop on finer aspects of Hindustani Classical Performance"

This workshop will be led by Shri Kedar Naphade, senior disciple of the legendary Pt. Tulsidas Borkar,

and is well known Hindustani Classical soloist and accompanist. This event is designed to benefit

students learning vocal, instrumental Hindustani classical music of all levels.

The workshop will be informative and educational for avid listeners of classical music as well as

to help improve the appreciation of hindustani classical music. The following topics will be covered in the

workshop, aided by lecture, demonstration and interactive discussions and question-answer sessions .

Alaap - How to improve Alaap, Methods of Riyaaz for a performer.

Please take advantage of this unique opportunity to improve your ability to learn as well as

increase your appreciation of the music you listen to!

MSSO : Gauri Pathare music concert

MSSO has sponsored Gauri Pathare's visit to Toronto and will be hosting the artist and her music concert 

in Toronto. Gauri has learned from different "Gurus"(teachers) but mainly from Smt. Padma Talwalkar of 

Gwalior-Jaipur Gharana and Late Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki ji. In addition to pure classical style, 

Gauri sings semi classical forms like Thumari, Dadra as well as Marathi Natya Sangeet and devotional music also.

Call for volunteers

 

AC's priorities: Increase the scope of the Admin Team

           

We want to add some more functions to the above list in order to have smoother operation, and

for that we are seeking volunteers from the Marathi community who have some background/experience,

and who can study, analyze, and write procedures and monitoring mechanism for the following:


-creating and maintaining a registry of rental facilities,

-creating and maintaining a registry of resources to carry out Public relations,

-creating and maintaining a pool of volunteers,

-maintaining a register of media people for publicity purposes,

-finance (consolidation of investment records, process of reporting to CRA and other government agencies),

-general administration(inventory of assets, archiving MBM records, smooth transition from one year to the next),

 

It is necessary that these tasks are carried out smoothly and consistently year after year.

 

The Admin Team is a supporting structure and a knowledge source with procedures and databases for maintaining

consistency in the Mandal activities. It does not have executive powers. The members of this team are not elected,

but chosen by AC. They will function under AC's guidance to disseminate information when needed. 

The AC will be solely responsible for selecting suitable individuals for the above tasks
