MSSO Toronto Chapter volunteers will host their annual Fundraising Charity Dinner on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in support of "Gift of Vision and Gift of Knowledge"
MSSO projects in rural areas of Maharashtra. A raffle for donated items is a very popular item in the program.

Zakir Hussain and The Masters of Percussion:
Roy Thomson Hall and Small World Music present: A legend in his native India, Zakir Hussain is the world's pre-eminent tabla virtuoso.
For his Masters of Percussion, Hussain has invited a coterie of gifted musicians to take part in a rhythmic tempest that showcases
the best of instruments like the ghatam clay pot, the sarangi and the sitar.

Dr. Prabha Atre is one of the senior torchbearers of classical music in India today. She trained under Sureshbabu Mane and Hirabai Badodekar,
children and disciples of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, the preeminent modern day exponent of the Kirana Gharana.
She is widely acclaimed for her grace and excellence in performance, and her research into, and teaching of, Indian classical music.
She has numerous publications (books and CDs) to her credit and has been a visiting professor at a number of universities in India and overseas.
She has established a Foundation to promote the cause of Indian classical music and performing arts.
Dr. Atre has been honoured with many national awards, including the title `Padmabhushan' and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award, in recognition of
her creativity, artistic excellence, outstanding achievement and distinguished service in the field of classical music.
Dr. Chetna Banawat, a senior disciple of Dr. Atre will provide vocal accompaniment, along with Kedar Naphade on harmonium and Vikas Naregal on tabla.

"An Interactive Discussion and Workshop on finer aspects of Hindustani Classical Performance"
This workshop will be led by Shri Kedar Naphade, senior disciple of the legendary Pt. Tulsidas Borkar, and is well known Hindustani Classical
soloist and accompanist. This event is designed to benefit students learning vocal, instrumental Hindustani classical music of all levels.
The workshop will be informative and educational for avid listeners of classical music as well as to help improve the appreciation of hindustani classical music.
The following topics will be covered in the workshop, aided by lecture, demonstration and interactive discussions and question-answer sessions .
Alaap - How to improve Alaap, Methods of Riyaaz for a performer.

MSSO has sponsored Gauri Pathare's visit to Toronto and will be hosting the artist and her music concert in Toronto
Gauri has learned from different "Gurus"(teachers) but mainly from Smt. Padma Talwalkar of Gwalior-Jaipur Gharana and Late Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki ji.
