     MBM Holi- Dinner and Dance:

MBM invites you to join in for Holi Celebration with your friends and family 

First time in the MBM history, we plan to launch the festival of colors!!

Date: 29th March 2014.

Time : 6PM to midnight

6.00: Start of Event: Guests arrive- Greeted with Holi colours at the Foyer.

Snacks served and Cash Bar opens!

6.45: Welcome greeting by President.

7.00 - 7.15: Holi Pujan with symbolic sacred fire!

7.15 - 7.45: Traditional rituals around the Holi Fire

7.45 -- 9.00 : Games and Entertainment.

9:00-10.00: Dinner

10.00 - 10.30: Bingo

10.30 - 12.00: Dance floor open for everyone.

  • Timeline of Program will be followed strictly so please arrive on time.
  • Colors are corn starch based, non-toxic, food grade, hypo allergenic and safe to use.

Please make sure to respect people's choice of participating or not participating in color play.

  • Tables are reserved according to your choice of groups but this reservation will be monitored only until 7.30 pm.
  • Allocation of tables done on first come first basis, EC's decision is final.
  • Holi Pooja being symbolic and due to fire regulations do not bring offerings such as coconut and other food items.


MBM- Career Information Session:

An information session on career options will be conducted on 27 April 2014. This session will give information about a variety of courses and financing options available to enable entry into the Canadian job market. Information about upgrading your academic skills to prepare yourself for the Canadian job market will be given.

It will be especially useful for newcomers to Canada. The session will be conducted by Chitra Potnis who is an engineer by qualification and has been an educationist for many years. She is the Education Director of a career college. The session will be interactive in nature.

There is no entry fee. You are welcome to attend with your friends and family. Please provide RSVP.

नृत्यनाट्य"आकाशपेलतांना "  An emotional journey of a woman's sensitive mind based on Poems written by Neela Satyanarayan and sung by renowned singers from India.

This melodious musical  is a spectacular blend of Bharatnatyam and Kathak  the two prominent styles of classical dancing.


Vasantik is planned during the day which will allow attendees to celebrate Mother's Day with Family and Friends in the evening.


Executive Committee has planned to honor all mothers attending this program in a unique way!

MSSO: Fundraising Charity Dinner

MSSO Toronto Chapter volunteers will host their annual Fundraising Charity Dinner on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in support of "Gift of Vision and Gift of Knowledge"

MSSO projects in rural areas of Maharashtra. A raffle for donated items is a very popular item in the program.

Dr. Prabha Atre is one of the senior torchbearers of classical music in India today. She trained under Sureshbabu Mane and Hirabai Badodekar,

children and disciples of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan, the preeminent modern day exponent of the Kirana Gharana. 

She is widely acclaimed for her grace and excellence in performance, and her research into, and teaching of, Indian classical music. 

She has numerous publications (books and CDs) to her credit and has been a visiting professor at a number of universities in India and overseas.  

She has established a Foundation to promote the cause of Indian classical music and performing arts. 

Dr. Atre has been honoured with many national awards, including the title `Padmabhushan' and the Sangeet Natak Akademi award, in recognition of

her creativity, artistic excellence, outstanding achievement and distinguished service in the field of classical music. 

Dr. Chetna Banawat, a senior disciple of Dr. Atre will provide vocal accompaniment, along with Kedar Naphade on harmonium and Vikas Naregal on tabla.

Interactive Workshop : Hindustani Classical Performance

"An Interactive Discussion and Workshop on finer aspects of Hindustani Classical Performance"

This workshop will be led by Shri Kedar Naphade, senior disciple of the legendary Pt. Tulsidas Borkar, and is well known Hindustani Classical

soloist and accompanist. This event is designed to benefit students learning vocal, instrumental Hindustani classical music of all levels.

The workshop will be informative and educational for avid listeners of classical music as well as to help improve the appreciation of hindustani classical music.

The following topics will be covered in the workshop, aided by lecture, demonstration and interactive discussions and question-answer sessions .

Alaap - How to improve Alaap, Methods of Riyaaz for a performer.

MSSO : Gauri Pathare music concert

MSSO has sponsored Gauri Pathare's visit to Toronto and will be hosting the artist and her music concert in Toronto

Gauri has learned from different "Gurus"(teachers) but mainly from Smt. Padma Talwalkar of Gwalior-Jaipur Gharana and Late Pt.Jitendra Abhisheki ji.

In addition to pure classical style, Gauri sings semi classical forms like Thumari, Dadra as well as Marathi Natya Sangeet and devotional music also. Please visit her website www.gauripathare.in  So you can listen to her audio-video clips. Harshad kanetkar will be coming to accompany her on Tabla.
